ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF SHEAR WALLS FOR EARTH QUAKE RESISTANT BUILDINGS USING ETABS
Abstract
A building's seismic structure is what protects the building from earthquakes. No structure is safe from earthquake damage, but the goal of seismic structures is to perform better than their conventional counterparts during seismic activity. According to the Building Standards Act, earthquake-resistant structures must withstand large earthquakes with a certain probability of occurring in a certain area. This means that loss of life must be minimized by preventing buildings from collapsing in rare earthquakes, and job losses must be limited in more frequent earthquakes. Steel reinforcement technology and shear wall systems are used today to design seismic structures. This is because the construction method is simple, easy to install, and previous studies have shown that it reduces bleeding and shedding. Currently, bracing or shear wall systems are being investigated to compare the two systems in public buildings with high seismic loads. In this study, a G+12 cover was modeled using ETABS software, analyzed using tensile analysis and compared with conventional buildings, steel buildings and shear wall buildings for design seismic. Effects such as story movement, story translation, story times, construction buckling, time and model stiffness were compared.
