Abstract

In this study, experiments are carried out effectively on petroleum contaminated black cotton soil or weak soil. The soil sample was collected and artificially mixed with petrol to contaminate with the dosage of 5% and 10% of petroleum by the weight of the soil for contamination period of 7, 14 and 28days. The strength properties and of the petroleum contaminated soil are determined by conducting the necessary tests. Petroleum contamination for the period of 7 and 14 days is considered for stabilization, after stabilization with lime of different percentage like 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% and different curing period like 3, 7 and 14 days, soil treated with 8% lime shows highest strength for 14 days curing period.
