A NEW PROPSAL TO BOOST THE LIFETIME OF HOUSEHOLD’S LI-ION BATTERY
Abstract
Most of the existing models used lead acid batteries which have more efficiency than Li-ion battery. In this proposed model lithium-ion batteries is suggested in household since they have less lifespan than lead acid batteries. Our goal is to prolong the life of the energy storage systems using pulsed charge-discharge technique. This paper is to design a model that can be charged in the hours when the electricity cost is low using power grid, and it can also be charged using PV panels when solar energy is available. In this model, the power bank in battery is divided into two equal parts. The proposed model uses pulsed charge-discharge technique to reduce the cost of electricity for the user and extend the lifespan of Li-ion battery using solar energy. Several forms of operation are discussed to show the advantages of the suggested method along with simulation results.
