Abstract

The proposed energy recovery system using two supercapacitors aims to improve the efficiency of electric vehicles by reducing battery regenerative current and inverter and motor power losses. The system achieves this by storing the regenerative energy in a supercapacitor and changing the inverter input voltage according to the motor speed. To achieve this, a bidirectional DC-DC converter is used in the circuit to efficiently transfer energy between the two supercapacitors and the battery. The voltage control method used in the circuit ensures that the inverter input voltage is adjusted in response to the motor speed, reducing power losses and improving efficiency. The efficiency of the proposed circuit was verified experimentally, indicating that the system is effective in improving the energy efficiency of electric vehicles. The use of supercapacitors in the circuit also provides faster charging and discharging times compared to traditional battery-based energy recovery systems..
