Economic Reforms and Growth: An Analysis of Post-Liberalization India
Abstract
This paper examines the impact of economic reforms on India's growth trajectory from 1991 to 2011. The study analyzes key economic indicators, sectoral changes, and policy shifts that characterized India's post-liberalization era. Using a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of economic data with qualitative assessment of policy changes, the research reveals that India experienced significant economic growth and structural transformation during this period. However, the benefits of reforms were unevenly distributed across sectors and population segments. The study finds that while reforms led to higher GDP growth rates, increased foreign investment, and improved productivity in certain sectors, challenges such as persistent poverty, inequality, and inadequate infrastructure remained. The paper concludes that while economic liberalization was largely beneficial for India's overall economic growth, a more nuanced and inclusive approach to reforms is necessary for sustainable and equitable development
