Abstract
Our project is a prototype of a fully automated, solar-charging lawn mower. It employs the use of an Atmega328 microcontroller (Arduino) as its brain to control the system. The system possesses smart functionality to cover a complete lawn by detecting corners with ultrasonic sensors and making precise 180-degree turns using a gyro sensor. This allows it to mow in a systematic zigzag pattern, ensuring full coverage, unlike random 'bump-and-turn' robots. It is battery-operated and features a solar panel to demonstrate eco-friendly charging. The design demonstrates that automation can be both effective and environmentally friendly, reducing the manual labor and carbon footprint associated with traditional gas-powered mowers.
